About Dr. Kowlowitz
Dr. Edward Kowlowitz – or “Dr. K,” as his patients call him – has been a leading expert in the treatment of acute and chronic pain for more than 20 years. His passion for helping patients manage their chronic pain was what led him to establish Center for Pain Management in 1993.
Dr. Kowlowitz specializes in neuromodulation, the use of implanted devices that disrupt pain signals in the nervous system. His ongoing research about spinal cord stimulator implants and DRG stimulators has helped him identify the safest, most reliable medical devices for his patients.
Other areas of focus include pain pump implants and responsible opioid medication management. He is currently training in regenerative medicine, with a goal of introducing that service at Center for Pain Management in the near future.
Background
Before opening Center for Pain Management, Dr. Kowlowitz held two important roles in Indianapolis: chief of anesthesiology at Physicians Care Outpatient Surgical Center and medical director at Winona Hospital Pain Management Center. He has lectured extensively on evidence-based pain treatment paradigms and responsible opioid prescribing.
Personal Life
A native of Rockland County, N.Y., Dr. Kowlowitz now lives in Zionsville. He enjoys cooking, scuba diving, and collecting muscle cars. Whenever possible, he enjoys spending time at Lake Wawasee with his family and his dog Finn, who is also the therapy dog at Center for Pain Management.
